The brief
What the site had to do
People check prayer times several times a day, usually on a phone, and they need to trust the numbers. The site had to show today’s times and the next prayer instantly, cover many UK cities with their own pages, and be completely open about how every time is calculated.
What we built
Our approach
We designed and built a fast, mobile-first Laravel application. The home page leads with the live time in London, the next prayer and a countdown, then today’s full timetable. Each city has its own page and a monthly timetable, and the methodology, Asr conventions and Hijri-date caveats are explained in plain English instead of hidden in small print.
Features
Everything we built into AllPrayerTime.uk
A closer look at the features that make the site work for its visitors, as they appear on the live site.
-
Live clock and next-prayer countdown
The home page shows the current UK time, the next prayer and an hours-minutes-seconds countdown, so visitors get the answer without scrolling.
-
A page for every UK city
Search by city or jump from the popular-cities list. Each city has its own prayer-times page and a link to a full list of UK cities.
-
Daily and monthly timetables
Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha plus Islamic midnight and the last third of the night, with previous/next day navigation and a full monthly view.
-
Asr convention switch
Visitors can switch between Standard, Mithl 1, Hanafi and Mithl 2, with a short explainer of the difference.
-
Ramadan hub
A dedicated Ramadan section with timetable pages and a countdown to the expected start date.
-
Qibla and Islamic calendar tools
Tools for Qibla direction and the Islamic calendar, with Hijri dates shown alongside a clear note about moonsighting differences.
-
Transparent methodology
A published method page explains the angles, offsets and rounding used, the source of each time and how results are checked, plus a corrections page for reports.
-
“Your day in the sky” visual
An illustrative sky graphic with live and play-the-day controls, clearly labelled as an illustration rather than a simulation.
-
Privacy-respecting analytics
A cookie banner with equal Accept and Reject options. The site works the same either way, and analytics only load after consent.
-
Accessible, credited and clear
Skip-to-content link, labelled menu controls, and visible attribution for every third-party photograph.
